Harmon’s first 4th of July was a blast! Our morning started off slow just like I prefer them to be. I could not wait to put on his 4th of July outfit, so as soon as he woke up from his morning nap I put it on. I, on the other hand tried to get a workout in. Harmon watched from his swing until he was finally bored of watching my comical attempts to do 15 push-ups in a row. Anyways, he went back down for a nap and I was able to have lunch with my parents. My dad grilled fajitas and mom hooked it up with Mexican rice, homemade salsa and her phenomenal guacamole. Our holidays tend to have a Mexican to twist to them.

After lunch we ate ice cream and napped hard. I eventually got ready and wore this super cute dress. It is definitely out of my comfort zone. I am not one to wear really fitted things/bodycons and this is basically one. I am a sucker for gingham and ruffles so I guess the mixture of the two lead to make this purchase.

I originally saw this dress on SHEIN.COM for under $25. I later saw it on GoodNightMacaroon.com for over $60. It was a no brainer on which I would go with. I read multiple reviews on SHEIN.COM because you have to. Sizing and quality can be a little off sometimes. Overall I really loved it. My parents invited me to my cousin’s ranch house for hamburgers and fireworks. My mom rushed me so I had to decide between changing outfits or feeding Harmon. I feed Harmon and threw some white denim shorts on. I lifted my dress by folding it all the waist and made it a top. Momma’s gotta be  practical. 🙂

Throughout the morning I spent time meditating on FREEDOM. After all what good is a holiday if it does not make us reflect on the origin of the celebration. The Lord kept brining Galatains 5:1 to mind which says,

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

Many men and women have PAID for our freedom in this country. Which I am so grateful for because our freedom does not come free.  The Lord reminded of the price that Jesus paid for me on the cross for my freedom. He wanted me to free from my bondage to sin. So He PAID it all for me on a cross. To which I am thankful for. This 4th of July I worship Jesus while holding my sweet baby boy with zero shame or guilt.  It is tempting to want to feel alone or ashamed when I I see pictures of families with both a mommy and a daddy. The temptation is to not feel whole. I’m reminded that I am a single mom, BUT God reminded me this 4th of July that it was for FREEDOM that Christ set me free. Through Him I am able to stand firm and celebrate the family that Harmon and I are. I can stand firm in the way He views  me. I am complete in Him. He has commanded me not to be yoked to sin, but to stand in FREEDOM. So I will listen! God is good and speaks in the greatest of moments and for that I am thanful for!

I hope you had a wonderful 4th of July!
